YM: Takumi

            Inquisitive by nature with a severe case of wanderlust. Takumi is a happy medium between an introvert and an extrovert. She is quite happy to be left alone, enjoying serene and the tranqility of forests whilst on the other hand she can also be found silently following an individual that has caught her attention. She is quite in-your-face when she is bored - you can find her either glancing over your shoulder or pestering you if she discovers that you have something that she wants (usually some sort of food item or glittery/glimmering object). She has a habit of collecting shiny objects - keeping it in a small pouch that is hidden beneath her garment. Slightly socially inept - some may call her thick headed or thick skulled because she is unable to read certain social cues that usually results in her being chastised for various reasons.

That being said, she is also quite stubborn - in the way that if she finds something she wants, she will be very determined to get it. Whether it be spending days following the individual until the said individual eventually gives in and lets her have it, or doing everything in her power to get the prize. (ie: she has been spotted trying to swim across a large river despite not being able to swim at all - to get to the shiny, polished rock that was on the river bank on the other side.) However, that being said - she is insanely loyal to those who she deems worthy and may God help you if don't like her - cause she won't leave you alone.

        Stories of the Basan had been told through illustrated stories, often depicting it rummaging through the thick bamboo forest; making the distinct noise that soon became it's name. The Basan itself had never been assigned a gender - as it would disappear as quickly as it had appeared - as the stories told. Any human that heard it and by the time it turned around, it would have disappeared. Alone and companion-less, the Basan would shape-shift into it's human form and enter the nearby villages to explore.  The Basan would often materialise into a young girl - often grabbing the attention of the village elders and parents who constantly wondered where she had come from as well as the missing parents. Eventually, one of the child-less family had adopted her as one of their own; though they never really questioned where she disappeared off to during the day; often assuming she is wandering through the village or helping in the nearby rice paddy.

It was from that moment in time did she really begin to connect with the humans. The village itself had been going through a tough time - their harvest fields as well as cattle often devastated by the nearby wildlife that came a night to eat. Seeing this happen - and not to mention the sadness that came with it - Takumi (as she was named) took the liberty to protect it during the night - the brilliant blue glow of her fire easily scaring away the wildlife as she passed through in her full form - a large fowl that was almost as tall as the bamboo forest that encircled the village. Despite the village having no proof that they had a resident Basan, they all believed that with the arrival of Takumi - came a new wave of goodluck that stayed with them even after she had moved on.

However, news spread of this 'young girl' and soon hunters of other villages came to sought out the 'lucky charm' in hopes to bring her to their own village by force. Blissfully unaware of the imminent danger - she was easily captured during her first day wandering through a new town as 'Takumi'. It was then did she learned her ability to breathe searingly hot fires - unfortunately taking down one of the wooden houses that she had been kept it - sprinting into the forest and disappearing amongst the trees. That had occured centuries ago - Takumi choosing to stay away from humans for a long time. Waiting for her name to 'die' with the ages before she re-emerged again as "Takumi'' for the new generations that knew not of her name.

Despite being years since she had been back to particular villages, many still take the rustling sound that they hear during the night as her - The Basan - that aided them in their time of need. 

    When she hiccups - she puffs out a little fire. They are however, cool to the touch.
